Since all of you guys liked my first blog, I have decided to keep all my articles completely candid and will continue to post good ones every time☺ For those who are reading for the first time;
Hi, my name is Mahika. A Mumbaikar with a mild coffee addiction and a poor sleep cycle;)
2020, the year with not a big bang that we hoped while ushering in the new year but we moved on and life moves on. So here we are being a part of history, which can be printed after 100 years in children’s textbooks! Hehe.
When I was watching the news on the television with my folks on 29th June, my eyes couldn’t believe what the news headline said. It said; INDIA BANS 59 APPS OF CHINA. THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE DIGITAL STRIKE.
One of them which was popular in India, loved and equally hated was ‘TikTok'. For all those who don’t know what TikTok is, to be said in the truest way, it's a platform where people from all ages try to self promote themselves by dancing, singing and acting etc.; thinking that they will get famous one day.
By doing some research I found out that from India there were over 120 million people on TikTok! I mean shocking right!
Now there’s a change which is going to be interesting.
The 14-year-old student who used to post her videos dancing and planning to be famous and collaborations; will now actually focus on her collaborations with her studies.
The aunties who always post videos of her dancing and lip syncing; will now have to find a new stream for her to pass the time. Now instead of watching videos on WhatsApp status; we’ll read good morning and motivational quotes.
Some thoughts that cross my mind are; What are people going to do now if their career was built by TikTok?
Is there a possibility of TikTok coming back to India? (let us know in the comments!)
Lastly, I hope everyone is in their home and safe because the threat is still outside.
Stay tuned for my next blog!
