Have you been held back from home farming and gardening because of
constrained spaces?
Were you short of vertical height or required land?
Did you worry about excess use of soil?
Well, here is your solution Hydroponic systems, these system allows you to
make one vertical hydroponic house {max 110 plants (vegetables too)}.
What is the catch? Will you need high end fertilizers or pesticides or quality
soil? Well, not at all, hydroponics is a technique developed 600 BC, the origins
of which have been traced to present day Iraq (Babylon), China, and Aztec
India. It was later brought to attention by the Italian genius Leonardo Da Vinci.
And this is not all, you cut your water requirements by 90% and land
requirements by 75%, in both commercial and household farming.
Yes! we are talking huge numbers here.
Hydroponics proved that plants do not need soil to thrive but some important
minerals and nutrients namely nitrogen, phosphorous, calcium, potassium,
magnesium, iron, boron, chlorine to grow.
How would you know that you are doing it wrong or right in a hydroponic
farming? It’s quite easy, if they turn yellow it means your solution is mineral
deficient if it turns dark it means your solution is mineral saturated.
Do you think sky is the limit for hydroponics? Absolutely not, with our Mars
exploration and colonisation (let’s hope Elon figures it out soon) and the
restrictions on soil due to its weight and barren and infertile foreign planets
hydroponic systems are the future!
